An Introduction to Moi: The Keto Teacher Bae

“Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you.”

~Beyonce Giselle Knowles Carter aka King Bey

Greetings! My name is Monique, but most people call me Mo. My nieces call me Auntie Mo Mo, third graders call me Mrs. A, but you can call me KetoTeacherBae. My husband and I live in the DMV region, and I have been on the ketogenic diet (on and off) for exactly one year. I am an 11 year teaching veteran and I am passionate about what I do. I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY–The birthplace of chicken wings, Rick James, and crappy professional sports teams.

Generally speaking, I am a kind person who likes to laugh and explore. I prefer to be surrounded by people with good energy. I truly enjoy cooking! There’s nothing better than watching the Food Network (Hey, Ina Garten!) and then going into the kitchen to recreate a dish. I like exploring flavors, spices, and pairing a dish with the perfect bottle of wine. I guess I am a foodie at heart. This is why, I believe, cooking on the ketogenic diet has been so much fun for me. It’s all about modifying a dish you like to meet your specific dietary needs. I plan to share all that I have learned on this blog as a means of inspiration for anyone who needs it.

I started sharing my weight loss journey initially on Instagram. It started as a way for me to hold myself accountable. As time progressed, however, I noticed that I had something to contribute to the keto community. Before I go on, however, I’d like to state the following disclaimer:

I am neither a physician nor am I a dietician. I am sharing what has worked for me. Before beginning any diet, you should consult your doctor to see if it’s the right fit for you.

Okay, where was I? Oh, yeah–I’m pretty awesome.

I have learned so much about myself during this weight loss journey. Ultimately, I just want to be the healthiest version of myself that I can be. I am a cancer survivor as well as a PCOS warrior. I have faced many medical obstacles, but I’m still standing. I’m still whole. I’m hoping that you’ll walk this journey with me. I’m hoping we can swap ideas and recipes. I’m hoping we can encourage each other.

With that said, what kind of content would you like to see on this blog? What questions do you have about my experiences with the ketogenic diet? Share your questions and opinions in the comments section below.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I rarely get a chance to talk about myself. I’m usually listening to 7 and 8 year olds talk about Fortnite. I appreciate you all!

Sincerely, I am,

KetoTeacherBae
